Vanity Fair's International Best-dressed List: Men and Women

Michelle Obama, wife of the US presidential hopeful Barack Obama, has been named, along with French First Lady Carla Bruni and Britian's Prince William's girlfriend Kate Middleton, as among the best dressed women by the Vanity Fair magazine.

Vanity Fair’s style connoisseurs deemed Mrs Obama ready for the crown of the world’s best-dressed woman for her ensemble of a Maria Pinto purple sheath dress, with a black Azzedine Alaïa belt, worn when her husband claimed the Democratic presidential nomination. “She’s our commander in sheath,” the magazine said.

This is the 69th annual style poll; published in Vanity Fair for September 2008, available in stands now.
